Renee Berman

We lost a dear friend yesterday.  Renee was from South Africa and made her home here in Betar Illit to be close to one of her daughters and grandchildren.  This past year was a difficult one for Renee, but she always tried to keep a smile on her face.  Renee was always easy going and pleasant to be around.  She was always trying to help.  She was an extremely talented artist and took up quilting to join our group.  Renee enjoyed making things for her family and friends.
Here is just a small sampling of what she made.

When I moved into my present apartment 3 1/2 years ago, Renee called my home the Quilting Corner.  Whenever she came to the group she said how happy she was to be back at the Quilting Corner.  Even though we called ourselves the Zahava Quilters, or Golden Girls in English, the name Quilting Corner has remained with us.  Thanks to Renee for making our present logo.
We will all miss her very much.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear of Renee's passing. I can see that she was a very talented lady and I would have loved talking about art and quilting with her. Please give each of the ladies at the Quilting Corner a hug for me and let them know I'm crying with them.

  4. Etty and all, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Renee was clearly a gifted artist. I am drawn especially to her faces and sculpture. May memories of her be a blessing to all of you and to her family.

  5. I enjoy reading about your group and I guess the fact that Etty once mentioned to me about Renee being from South Africa made me feel 'welcome'. I am really sorry about your loss and know that from all over the world people will be thinking of you and her family.
