A Visit To Bracha's Home

Susan, Bracha and Sahra live in Neve Yaakov (part of Jerusalem).   It's about a 1 1/2 hour bus ride from my home.  The ladies have been getting together for show and tell, encouragement and lots of fun.   I had a chance to visit with them recently.  All agreed, we must finish all our UPO's this year.   So some that you see are finished and some are not.
Here are Bracha's

Sahra is a new quilter.  Susan has been teaching her to quilt and she's doing a great job.

Susan also brought along show and tell.  Notice the black batting.  I've never seen that before.

Susan, along with machine quilting, does wonderful hand quilting as well.  I hope you can see it in this picture.
You can see more of Susan's quilt projects on her blog.

A Shower Curtain

I finished a long time project.  A shower curtain for my son and family.   All the 2 1/2 inch squares were the easy part.  Learning how to make buttonholes was the hard part.
I'm happy to have finished this project.  Some things are more enjoyable than others.  I'm not sure that I'd make this again.

It's Amazing

Israel is a very small country.  We have quilters here but not like in other parts of the world like the USA or Canada.  I see on my side bar to the right of the screen that we have now had over 4,500 1st time visitors from Israel on our quilting blog.  I thank everyone that has looked us up and I hope it's been enjoyable for everyone.  In celebration I would like to have a few giveaways and I hope you will be interested in them.
Just let me know if you are interested and I'll pick a winner in about a week.
The first will be 6 Quilters Newsletter.  Oldies but Goodies to enjoy.

Fabricologist

I know this has been going around on the internet for sometime now, but it's so, so me.

A Birthday Tablecloth

Sara and I found this great cupcake fabric at Budrutz.  Well, what to do with it was the question?  Sara had the great idea to make tablecloths to be used when our grandchildren had their birthday parties.  It was easy for us to do and the kids really liked them.  I didn't get a picture of Sara's but they both were pretty much the same.  We used extra solids on the borders to make them the size we needed.

Do You Follow Quiltville?

I follow Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville every time I get a chance.  She has so many ideas for using up scraps which is what I'm addicted to.  She has been making paper strips and sewing all the little pieces on to them.   I'm going to use mine for shashing strips, which she suggested.  Here are a few pictures that I made as I was doing them.  You can learn more by just going into her blog
Start with paper, any size you need.

Sara's Pink Ziz Zag

Sara has been working on this lovely pink zig zag quilt and for something that looks hard, it's easy and quick.  This looks great with many colors, but even better with 4 shades of the same color.

A Quilt For My Grandson

My 14 year old grandson was ready for a new quilt, so he asked for the same pattern that I made for my husband some time ago.  He also requested blue and white.   I didn't have the same fabrics but I found 2 blues and a white that I thought was more interesting for a 14 year old.   Yes, I'm happy to say he does like it.

I bought enough of the same fabric to use for the back and binding.
Now I'm on to my next project which is a shower curtain.   I'm going to have to learn how to make button holes.

I Love Cartoons

This one is so, so true.  I won't even hem one of my skirts.   Why is this I wonder?

Sara's Snowball Quilt

Sara has been making this snowball quilt in flannels.  So appropriate now that it is cold and snowing here in Israel.  It is so warm and cuddly.   Just what is needed to keep her grandson warm.

Snow, Wonderful Snow

We don't get snow very often in Israel, so when we do, it's a big deal.   Here are a couple of pictures of what it looked like here in my town of Betar Illit today.
