Rina's Kaleidoscope Quilt

Rina has made progress on this fantastic Kaleidoscope Quilt.
She'd like to make it larger so Rina has ordered more fabric.  This quilt will have to be put on hold until the extra fabric arrives.  Rina, this quilt will be extra special.

8th Night of Chanukah

Welcome to the 8th night of Chanukah.  The above picture includes a very special second menorah (candelabra on the right) that we light on the last night.  We posted the story last year but would like to repeat it since it has profound meaning to us:

A Special Chanukah Menorah

In 1975 our family was stationed with the US Army in Germany.  My hubby and I were in an antique shop and came across this Chanukah menorah.  Being thirty years after the war and knowing that there hadn’t been a Jewish population in that area for the three decades, made us look in amazement and curiosity about the origin of the menorah.  We purchased it with the hopes of honoring and memorializing the family that may have once used it every year.  Since then we have continued to light this menorah on the eighth night of Chanukah.  Hopefully this will bring merit to that family and every Jewish family that through persecution and hatred are not able to light Chanukah candles.  Since Chanukah commemorates a victory over such persecution, it seams very appropriate to light our menorah, especially in Israel, in memory and honor of those Jews in more recent times, even up to this day, that are not able to serve our Creator as they would like to.  May the coming year see peace throughout the world.

Bracha's New Wall Hangings

Bracha has some new wall hangings that are still in process.  I just wanted to give you a glimpse into what she is creating.  She prefers this type of  work to large bed quilts.  This is what makes quilting so interesting.  Everyone finds what they like to do best.

Susan has been making these cute coasters.  They make wonderful little gifts.  I understand they are easy and quick to make.  Anyone would be happy to receive one.

Happy Holidays

Rina's Decision

Rina had to make a decision on how to lay out her latest Disappearing Nine Patch.  She placed all the blocks on the table to get ideas.  It isn't always so easy to make these decisions.  A little help from friends can be very helpful.
This was a YES.

Sara's Underground Railroad Blocks

I'm getting behind on Sara's blocks.  She is working fast and I seem to be slow.  Here are some of her latest blocks.
The Carpenters Wheel
Jewel Box
Arkansas Cross Roads
Shoofly
Sara's next block will be the Flower Basket.  She has already started to pick out the fabrics.  Sara will be adding a blue to this selection.  This is going to be a gorgeous quilt.

I Love My Friends

I really like the saying in this little item, which hangs on the wall in my sister Sandy's house.
"Some friends grow older.  Some grow wiser and a few become genuine characters".  My friends that are characters are most special to me.

A Gift For Me

Rina and Sara surprised me with these darling Teddy Bears.  They are from Keepsake Quilting.  I've wanted them for a long time and have just put off ordering them.  I hope to use them on comfort quilts.  Thanks so much, ladies.

Thank You Sandy

A big thank you goes to my sister Sandy.  In her shopping she found these wonderful children's fabrics.  She isn't a quilter but does many other crafts.
This first one is a Growth Chart.  It's fantastic and a different idea for children.
The next two are the Three Blind Mice.  They go together wonderfully.

Something New For Us

Beading is not something that we do, but look at this!  Chaya has been taking a class in beading and making the most beautiful bead work.  I don't know if I could have the patience to do this.  I hope Chaya continues with this new endeavor.

New Books

On my recent trip to Philadelphia I acquired some new quilting books.  It's always fun to look for new ideas.

Thank you Sandy for this Grandma's book.  I certainly am a Grandma!
Of course, I did get some quilting items from my sister Geri. Thanks so much, especially for the Klutz glove.

New Baby Quilts By Renee S

Renee S has been very busy making baby quilts. I think she is planning more, but here is what I have so far.
This is the largest quilt.  Renee did all the patchwork on this and made a pillow to match.

As you can see Renee is still quilting this one.
These baby quilts are so soft and cuddly.  Wonderful job Renee.  We're looking forward to seeing the other quilts that you are planning.

Sandy's Scarfs

My sister Sandy has been busy, busy, busy.  She has been making the loveliest scarfs which are so popular now.
Sandy tried to teach me but I'm all thumbs when it comes to knitting.

Here are some that are finished.

My oldest grandchild, Shifra Chaya, picked out the one she wants.  She's a lucky girl to have an Aunt that is so talented.
