Cotton Fabric

Recently, when I was in Jerusalem, I stopped in 2 fabric stores.  I found some cotton fabric which is very hard to find here.  Two are stripes which I am collecting for a special stripe quilt that I plan to make.  One fabric is for my dot collection.  I've started a 6 pointed star quilt using only dot fabrics.  The last fabric is for the back of a comfort quilt that I'm making.  It has tiny hearts on it which is perfect for this quilt.

Bryna's Last Jeans Quilt

Recently, I showed you the top of Bryna's 3rd Jeans quilt.  She just finished it and put an interesting back to it.  Would you believe it's a tablecloth?  Quilters have such good ideas.  It was just what this quilt needed.

Pattern For Hadassah

Recently Hadassah requested the pattern that I used for the N'Shea Chinese Auction Quilt.  I don't have a way to contact her, so I'm writing the instructions here.
I used about 18 different fabrics.  I mixed up all the fabrics and for each square I made sure that block E was always different fabric then the other blocks.  To make more variety you can also reverse blocks B and C one line 2.
I received this pattern from Ali at Alone In The Studio.

Shifra's Jerusalem Project

Shifra has made the Hebrew letter "The final Mem" out of fabric.  This is the second step towards this interesting wall hanging.  She will be experimenting with different methods until it meets her approval.  Shifra is a perfectionist.  It's still missing the depth that she is looking for.  Shifra felt this first attempt is too puffy; but, she has some other ideas on how to make each of the Hebrew letters.  I'm really looking forward to seeing this when it's finished.  I know it will be wonderful.

Red Roses

I woke up Friday morning, Erev Shabbos to find red roses on my dinning room table.  This was a surprise from my hubby for no special reason.  It wasn't my birthday or anniversary.  What a lovely way to start a new day.

A Day In Jerusalem

I went to Jerusalem today and I walked and walked and walked.  There are many lovely parks in Jerusalem and I passed several.  The weather was lovely and it seemed like everyone was enjoying the sun.

I also had time to stop at the Shuk.  That is always a delight.  You can buy almost anything there.

Fat Quarters Are Not Just For Quilts

Sara just bought a cabinet with two glass doors.  When Sara put things inside the cabinet, she didn't like the way it looked.  Not wanting to see what was inside, Sara took two fat quarters and used them to cover the glass.  Now that is a novel idea.  A picture is worth a thousand words.

N'Shea Chinese Auction Quilt

Our group was asked to contribute a quilt for the N'Shea (a charitable organization) Chinese Auction being held on June 20th in Betar Illit.
Proceeds from the auction will go to help women in Betar Illit that have a new baby or illness.  It pays for meals, babysitting and counseling.  Thank you to Ali from Alone In The Studio for her suggestion to use this quilt pattern.  It was easy, fast and a pleasure to make and allowed me to complete the quilt on time.  I like it so much that I may make another with different colored fabrics for myself.

UFO Finished

I've never had UFO's before this year.  I've always finished all the quilts that I've started.  This past year it seems that I made quilt tops with no one in mind.  That seems to be the problem.  There wasn't any rush to finished them so the tops are just sitting around.  I just finished this quilt from last Spring and it will have a new owner soon.

41st Wedding Anniversary

My hubby took me out to lunch today for our anniversary.  We went to a Chinese restaurant in Jerusalem.  The food was delicious and we had a very relaxing meal. I love to eat out and I love Chinese.  We also did some window shopping and we enjoyed the quiet time together.  It's amazing that it has been 41 years.  The time goes by so fast.

Shifra's Jerusalem Project

Shifra has started to draft a fascinating wall hanging.  The theme will be Jerusalem.  She is using all Hebrew letters and each letter will look like a Jerusalem structure.  We will follow this project along as she progresses. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Bryna's Third Jeans Quilt

Bryna's third and last jeans quilt is still in process.  This top is almost finished.  Bryna added pockets to the jeans squares that are on point and I think this made a cute effect.  The addition of string blocks make this quilt really sing.  She will be making a scrappy flannel back with no batting in the middle.

Bryna's Jean Quilt

Bryna has finished the second of three jeans quilts that she is making.  She added buttons and tiny satin stitched flowers to this charming quilt.
Bryna has used the same fabrics on the back as she did with the front.
