A big thank you to Ali in Beijing, China. Ali put a post on her blog about Japanese quilting which I thought was very interesting. So I wrote her and asked for some information It's called Sashiko. She was kind enough to send me a sample with instructions which recently arrived by FedEx. The pattern is printed on the fabric and after quilting the pattern disappears with washing.
