Sara, Shifra and I went to Pissott this morning and once again had a great time looking at all the quilts. These are just a few pictures that were taken.
We now know the recipient of the Crayon Quilt. Last night at 10:11 PM (Israel time) a 7.7lbs boy was born to our daughter Rochel. Mother and baby (and father and grandparents) are doing well.
A big thank you to Ali in Beijing, China. Ali put a post on her blog about Japanese quilting which I thought was very interesting. So I wrote her and asked for some information It's called Sashiko. She was kind enough to send me a sample with instructions which recently arrived by FedEx. The pattern is printed on the fabric and after quilting the pattern disappears with washing. You can see more things about Japanese quilting on her blog called Alone In The Studio.
I've been using Shout Color Catchers for washing reds and dark fabrics. It works well but I can't find it here in Israel. Sara found 2 similar products and I'm going to give them a try. One is by Woolite called Color Protection and the other is Protect Color by Ideal. If any of you have used these products and like them I'd like to hear from you.
We've started another charity quilt and are using most of the fabric donated by Stephanie in Texas. This will be for a 7 year old girl so I may put a light pink in the center of each block. It shows navy blue now which is the color of my design wall.
