Susan Demonstates Lil Twister

A very big thank you to Susan from the "Scrap Happy" blog
for showing us how to use the new Lil Twister template that is so popular at this time.  It's always so exciting to learn something new and Susan made it very interesting for us at this week's meeting.  All of us enjoyed learning this technique and are interested in making some of these Twister quilts.

It also happened to be Sara's birthday and Sara surprised us by bringing in a cheese cake for the ladies.  What a nice way to celebrate one's birthday by sharing.  It was very good of course; and, now we have a head start for the upcoming holiday of Shavuos, next week

A Great Buy

Rina recently came back from a trip to America.  She found this panel in a store at a great price.  It's completely done with applique and textured fabrics.  All she has to do now is sandwich it and quilt.  What a great buy for a quick quilt and it's really adorable.

Shifra's New Log Cabin

Shifra has been working hard.  She came to our group meeting with her Log Cabin quilt top.  The top is very large so it was hard to photograph in my tiny living room.  It is really outstanding and everyone loved it.

Bryna's New Jeans Quilt

Bryna is planning on making three jeans quilts during the next few weeks.  This is the first of the three.  Unfortunately my photo doesn't show how cute it really is.  She used plaids on the back.

Susan And A Blogger From America

Susan made friends with Kay, a fellow blogger from America.  They never met before; but, recently Susan had the opportunity to meet her in Jerusalem.  Kay was visiting Israel.  She got in touch with Susan so they could finally meet.  They had a wonderful visit.  Susan will be writing about it on her blog.  Kay gave Susan some of the latest quilt magazines from America.
Kay admired Susan's needle case so Susan gave it to her.  Susan can't be without her needle case so she quickly made another.

Three Quilt Panels

A big thank you to Susan for donating these adorable children's panels for our comfort quilts. The panels are used to make little quilts quickly.  They are loved as much as the quilts that take much longer to make.

Sara's New Quilt Project

Sara has a fantastic supply of blue and yellow fabrics.  Since this is one of her favorite combinations she has started another quilt which will be perfect for the Spring.  She brought in the squares that she has started and they are terrific.  This will be a quilt that everyone would like to have.  The pattern is by Jo Kramer and it is called Chain Of Faith.  It was displayed on the Mode Bake Shop.  You can get the pattern on their website.

These are the squares Sara made, so far.

Woolite Color Catcher

I've tried the Woolite Color Catcher on some black and dark blue fabrics.  It seems to work fine.  I washed the fabric twice and I think I will wash the fabrics again before using them.  I like the fabric sheets to come out white before using the fabric.

Hooray For Red White And Blue

Bryna has finished her latest quilt and yes, you guessed it, it's red, white and blue.
Bryna machine pieced this charming quilt but all quilting is by hand.  She always uses a thick batting to make it nice and puffy.  Bryna once again did a fabulous job so I'm happy to be able to show it to you.

A Helping Hand

Recently at one of our quilting meetings I noticed a wonderful thing happening.  Sara has been working on a project for a very long time.  She has been making hexagons for her Grandmother's Flower Garden using the English Paper Piecing process.  It takes a long time to do this and lots of patience.  I saw Susan joining in and helping Sara and it made me realize again how wonderful quilters are.  Quilters are always willing to help others.  We are special people.  I'm so happy to be one of them.

Shifra's Fish Potholders

Shifra’s potholders are very popular.  Here is how we have displayed them in our kitchen.  The only problem is we are afraid to get them soiled and could never bring ourselves to use them as potholders.  We very much enjoy having them decorate our kitchen.
Thank you, Shifra.

Budrutz Donation

The Quilting Corner would like to give a very big thank you to Budrutz for their donation.  We have received 2 meters of extra wide cotton batting from their store.  It will be used for our comfort quilts that are given to sick children and anyone in need.
Budrutz has a wide selection of cotton fabrics and quilting tools.  So if you haven't already been there, please plan a visit soon.

Public Service Announcement

This has nothing to do with quilting but the Quilting Corner, as a public service announcement, encourages everyone not to tease animals.  Here is an example:

Shifra's New Project

Shifra has started something new.  She just doesn't know what it will be.  She brought in all the fabric to share and we all talked about the endless possibilities. We liked the different fabrics and made suggestions.  We will just have to wait and see.

Darling Mug Rugs

Here are two of Susan's latest Mug Rugs.  They are the latest colors and a great way to use up scraps for gifts.  Anyone would be happy to receive this charming gift.  My hubby likes to call them Cup Carpets.

Postage Stamp Comfort Quilt

Another comfort quilt is finished.  It has been machine quilted and the binding is on. This Postage Stamp quilt measures about 31x39 inches.  I hope it brings joy and comfort for some little baby soon.  Thanks to Stephanie in Waco, Texas for donating most of the fabric.

New Hand Project

I've started a new hand project that I can take with me to appointments and when I'm traveling.  I like the old fashion way of cutting with templates and even drawing the lines.  I find it very relaxing.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
And to all women that are daughters, sisters, aunts and girl friends, have a great day too.

Shopping At Budrutz

I bought these goodies at Budrutz recently.  It's always enjoyable to shop in this friendly store.  I usually find something to take home with me.
I found these 2 flannels that are perfect for charity quilts.

Vacation Is Over

Today was the first time the ladies were able to get together after many weeks. Not everyone is back from vacation but we still had many ladies for our shiur (Bible Study) and quilting. We enjoyed being together and catching up on all the news.  Renee S and Renee B, both had injures due to falls.  Rina's daugher Chaya Mushka also was injured in a fall. We want to wish all of them a speedy recovery.

Sara had some new books and magazines to share. Most of us are looking for new quilt projects so we enjoyed looking through them for new ideas and patterns. We hope to be back in full swing next week.
Shifra is getting requests for her fish pot holders from friends and family.  Here are two more that she has started.
