Birthday Pillow

My oldest grandchild has turned 14 years old.  Gifts are always a problem especially when they are teenagers.  Money is always welcomed but I wanted to do more.  Last year I made her a quilt so this year it's a pillow.
I really like this fabric.  Lots of fun things on it.  Handbags, jewelry, cell phones, shoes, sunglasses and more.
Since she shares a room with her little sister I thought I better make a matching one for her.

New Fabric

I forgot to mention that all guests at our retreat received a little surprise.  I like to collect little remnants of fabric when I visit Pissott.  Each quilter was able to pick out one that she liked and take it home.  Everyone should get a gift when they are on a retreat.
This fabric is fantastic.  I bought it from Pissott.
This baby fabric was from the Quilt Center.
And these 2 panels were from Sew Adorable Fabrics.

Quilt Retreat Day 2

We had another fun day and accomplished a lot.   The ladies worked all day on their projects and only stopped long enough for us to go out to lunch.
Avigail finished her pillow.  It turned out really great and she is so happy with it.

Rina finished machine quilting her latest quilt.  This is only the second quilt that she did free motion quilting and it turned out terrific.  She was so excited about it.  Great job Rina.
Sara trimmed her quilt and now will put on the binding to finish it.

Sara also continued her paper pieced Rose.
I also accomplished what I wanted.  My hubby's quilt top is almost finished except for any borders that I may add.  I still haven't decided about that yet.
We all had so much fun just sewing away.  It was hard to stop our little retreat.  I'm sure we will do it again someday.

Quilt Retreat Day 1

Quilt retreats are not available in Israel as they are in other parts of the world.  So Sara came up with the idea of making our own.  We met in my apartment, the Quilting Corner, and started early in the morning.  Not everyone was available to stay all day so some ladies came and went throughout the day.  What fun we had and we actually did lots of work and learned some new things.
Susan guided Rina on machine quilting.

Avilgail cut fabrics for a new pillow.
Shoshana L learned how to complete her binding with a hand stitch on her latest String quilt.
Susan also did some hand quilting in between helping others.
Renee worked on her baby quilt.  I didn't get a picture.
I worked on my hubby's quilt.
Sara is paper piecing a wall hanging.  It's a Rose that is repeated four times and it will be lovely.
Shifra is also working on a paper piece quilt for her hubby.  This is really lots of work but quilters don't give up.

Great Shopping Day

Today was the opening day for this year's Israeli Quilters Association conference in Jerusalem.  We took advantage of the opportunity to do some shopping while several of our favorite vendors were there.  Yes, I did come home with some goodies.
Some of the vendors in attendance were:
Pissott
Budrutz
Sew Adorable Fabrics
Designers
The Quilting Center

Busy Ladies

Susan has completed the quilting for Sara.  Here is a close up of her work.

Now Sara has her latest quilt sandwiched and ready for Susan to quilt.  It's hard to keep up with these two talented ladies.

I like the border Sara used on this latest Yellow Brick Road pattern.
