Naomi's Latest

Naomi likes to paint and do decoupage.  She just finished this lovely little piece.
Naomi came by to show me some felt puzzles that she has been making for her children.  They are very cleaver and her kids have been having so much fun with them.  You can see her youngest hiding behind her skirt.  By the way, Naomi made this top that she is wearing.  She loves to sew.
Her son brought down the latest which was almost finished.
Here is her latest felt pillow.

Busy Day

Today was busy and fun.  Renee brought her finished quilt and we went outside to try to get a complete picture of it.  We definitely have to improve on our picture taking.

Renee showed some of her scarves that she recently made and she has already started another.

Sara also has the knitting bug and has started a red and black scarf.
Susan is hand quilting her latest little quilt.
Rina is still making little flowers.
Shoshana has made some Dreidels out of magazine pages which are really cute.

And while I'm working on my latest project, I've been doing Bonnie Hunter's "Leaders & Enders".  I'ts very exciting to know that I am making 2 quilts at the same time.  These little 2 and 4 patches add up quickly.

Renee's Latest Quilt

Renee has finished another wonderful quilt.  This one was so large, we had to fold it over in order to get a picture.  I'm sure you'll agree, it is a great quilt.  Renee used the fabric she received at our last giveaway and made the Bricks pattern.

 This is the back.

Sara's Latest Quilt

If I could name this quilt, I would name it Licorice candy. That's what I think of when I look at it.  Sara has just finished the quilting which is not her favorite part of the project.  What a fantastic job she has done.

This is the proof of her success.  The grand kids just couldn't wait to get underneath and cuddle.

Pinsies

I've been asked for further information about Pinsies.  Recently we posted a picture of Pinsies that our Susan recently made. You can follow Susan at
Susan is a follower of Karen Griska at the"Selvage Blog"
She followed her instructions and made these adorable pins shown above.  I suggest you go to the Selvage blog for more details.  They seem to be easy and fun to make and there are many inspiring pictures to see.

A Letter from Terry

Hello Quilty friends around the world,
I am embarking on a new project under the umbrella of Operation Embrace. My friend Aviva Tessler and her family have been instrumental in this project for a number of years now.  I have made quilts for them in the past, but now is the time we REALLY need to reach out with our kind embrace.

I am starting a project called Quilts for Operation Embrace.  If you would like to be involved, and help in any way you can please feel free to do so.
We need LOTS and LOTS of quilts for all ages from birth to 120, male and female.  Send them to me at my address below.

If you would like to involve your local quilters and communities please feel free to do so.
Keep the quilts simple, quick and easy to piece. If you are ready to start on your own, sort your stashes and pre-cut your fabrics into usable sizes
2 1/2inch strips, lots and lots, also good for bindings
5inch strips/squares, lots and lots
10inch strip/squares
fat 1/4 rectangles.

These precuts go a long way to make quick quilts. There are many ideas on the internet or for more specific quilt ideas feel free to email me and I will post some patterns that we have found to be good. If you just want to send fabrics these are good sizes to send.
If you would like to just make the tops and we can quilt them on my long arm machine that too is good and much easier to post.

Please be in touch for postal information when ready to send us your parcels.
Feel free to email me at any time at terry@mowfam.com.

Thank You

A big thank to Christine for her generous donation of children's fabrics.  They will be used for future comfort quilts.

And thank you to Renee.  She has given our group this coffee cup holder.  We do have coffee, tea and drinks available for the ladies when are together.  This is so cute and will help us be more organized.

On The Design Wall

Now I have to start sewing this together.  If  I add borders it will be about 48"x48" when finished. I was thinking of changing all the black to white.  I can't decide.

Comment from Hubby:
Since we have been blessed with computer graphics, I thought I would see what this pattern would look like with white.  Here it is:
My vote is to leave it black since I think some of the contrast is lost with the white.  We were also talking about having the area outside the star in white.  I didn't create a graphic picture of that, since I feel the entire pattern would be lost.
We received many responses and the majority go with the black.  Hubby's happy.

Shifra's Baby Quilt

Shifra has just made a new baby quilt for her latest grandson.  It's just in time for his Bris this Shabbos.  It's made out of fleece so it's soft and cuddly.  Shifra used the Brick pattern that we recently used to make a comfort quilt.  Great job Shifra.  He is going to love using this quilt.  And Mazel Tov to you again on the birth of your new grandson.

Sisters Are The Best

My sister Sandy loves to shop for herself and for others.  Lucky for me, even though she isn't a quilter, Sandy buys fabric for me.  It's hard to find precuts in Israel but not in the Philly area.  So this past year she has been shopping and stashing it away fabric for me.  This generous package arrived and I'm having so much fun looking at it and deciding what to make.   I will make some comfort quilts I know and the merit will go to my sisters.  Both my sisters.  My sister Geri paid the shipping.  As I said, sisters are the best and my best friends. I'm so very blessed.

A Group Picture

Not everyone was here this week, but we did get a nice group together for a picture.  I have a tiny apartment so it isn't easy to do this.  With my husbands help the final picture has all the ladies in one picture.

And here I am.  I'm usually taking the pictures so you don't get to see me much.  Here I am trying to take a picture of myself.

Lots Of Show And Tell

Wow, we had a great get-together today.  Since it is Chanukah we had some treats.  Lots of donuts
  and Chanukah gelt (chocolate candy).
Sara showed some of  her latest projects.  This was the silk fabrics she put together to make a cover for a screen.
Her kaleidoscope quilt was a big hit.  Most of us didn't see it and were overwhelmed by how terrific it is.
Sara has been making ruffel scarfs and some of the other ladies have been making them also.
Here is Renee's scarfs
Susan finished hand quilting this darling little quilt.
She also is making these with little leftover pieces.
And I'm sure you have seen those special pins that have been showing up on everyone's blog.  Well Susan got the bug and made some too.
Faygie Sarah joined us today and brought along her knitting. We were so happy that she joined us .
While the ladies weren't looking I took the liberty to take some actions pictures.

I hope to post more pictures tomorrow.
