Ricky Tims Kaleidoscope Quilt

Recently some of the ladies were interested in making Ricky Tims Kaleidoscope quilt.  One day Susan, Sara and I went over to Bracha's to give it a try.  I'll keep this in mind for a future project.  I think it's great but too much for me at this time. Bracha wasn't happy with her results but Sara stuck it out and I'm pleased that she did.  The top is finished and it's an exciting quilt.  You can watch a video that he made about his quilt on the link below and you can see Sara's process while making the pattern.

Out To Lunch

The ladies decided to go to a dairy restaurant this week.  Some were quilters, some were not.  It doesn't matter.  We are all friends and it was just great to get out, enjoy the beautiful weather and have a fantastic meal.  We had a van pick us up because we went to Jerusalem.  This was the easiest way to travel.

Hinda's Jean Quilt

Hinda has finished another Jeans quilt top.  This one is for her son and she is so happy the top is finished.  She's hoping to find the correct backing for it soon and she wants to get it ready for quilting by next week.  Great job Hinda.

Rina's Quilt

Rina has put her latest quilt together and now she will do the quilting.  It is so lively and colorful.  A very special quilt indeed.  Great job Rina.

A Fish Quilt

A request was sent out from Wedding Dress Blue for fish fabric for a lovely little boy named Fischel.  We sent some fish fabric to her as so many other quilters did.  The quilt is finished and it's fantastic. We at the Quilting Corner are so happy to have been a part of this.  You can read more about it on the link below.

A Quilt Class In Jerusalem

This week we went to Jerusalem for a very special quilt class given by Ethel from America.  She traveled a long way to give us this class and brought so many gifts and ideas for us.  We learned new techniques for applique and embellishment.  It was a lovely day out for all of us and we even brought lunch so we could stay longer.

Here are 2 things that Ethel brought along for us to see.

New Comfort Quilt

We are working on several comfort quilts at this time.  I wanted you to use a pattern that is so easy.  I really like how this one is turning out.  Most of the fabric was donated by Stephanie in Texas at "My Imperfect Life"
Thanks so much Stephanie.
The pattern is called Bricks, shown on the Moda Bake Shop. Thanks to Bryna for cutting out the fabric and to Sara for planning the layout.  I'm out of the wheelchair and healing, but it's still hard to do some of these steps.  I hope to show you this quilt when it's completed.

Legacy

I just borrowed this book from Bryna.  I read it in one day because I just couldn't put it down.  It's the story of Talula Gilbert Bottoms and her family from the Civil War until the 1940's.  It's just amazing.  She has made hundreds of quilts under such difficult times.  I can never complain about not getting the fabric that I would like here in Israel.  She had to first grow the cotton for her fabric and batting.  We certainly don't appreciate how easy it is to be a quilter today.  If you can get a copy of this book, it certainly is worth reading.

Fantastic Quilts

First, I would like to thank everyone that has sent me e-mails about my injury.  I am healing and I appreciate your concern.  I haven't been on the computer much.   It's been difficult to reply to all of you.  I hope to be getting around better soon.

If you love color, you have to see this.
It's Wanda Hanson from Exuberant Color.
Scan down on the right sidebar of her blog and look for My Film Debut.  It's worth it. I'm in love with her quilts.

On The Design Wall

When is it time to give up on a project?  I was working on this quilt and the more I did the less I liked it.  I used a blue background fabric and I think that was the main problem.  The more I added fabric to this, the more gray the blue became.  So, I've put it away now, not knowing if I will ever get back to it.
I started a modern Brick pattern with all blues.  I don't like this either.  I think I'll be adding many more colors. So this is on hold for awhile. I'm not making it for anyone that I know.  I just liked the pattern.
Then I started this Basket Weave pattern.  I'm using some gold which isn't my favorite color so I'm not sure if I will be continuing with this.  This picture comes out looking white but it's gold.
I usually like whatever I'm working on so at this point I think it's time to take a break before I get too depressed.  I don't seem to like anything that I've tried lately.

Susan Has Been Busy

I haven't don't much sewing these past few weeks, but Susan has.  Here is her latest.  I like that she has used only solids in this project.  I sure have to get some more solids. Susan hasn't put this beauty on her blog yet, but I'm sure she will. You can view her blog and see her wonderful creations.  She would love you to drop by and say hello.
